The Journey

"Lost Queen" is the first poem of Almost Butterfly. It was a moment of surrender. When she finally admitted to God that the her life (her kingdom) was on fire. Everything was being consumed, including her, and she did not have the power to stop it.
This moment of surrender led to several more poems. Naomi never had the intention to share these poems with the world. They were the way she marked and processed her ongoing inner journey. These poems are filled with honest truths about integral moments and incidents in her life. There are also reflections on the way that the smallest moments in life can reveal deep and intimate truths about the nature of God, the world, and human nature,
Almost Butterfly is a journey. Naomi hopes that the poetic documentation of her journey will be a light to whoever needs it. She does not see herself as one who has arrived, but as one whose journey of healing and growth is ongoing. There is a constant feeling of "almost" that has translated into a realization of self-acceptance and self-love.
"I look at all I have accomplished in this place of being "almost" there, and I realize that my almost is always enough for the moment that I am in."
